Historic Harrison County: Riverboats
"America" This sternwheel packet, wood hull was built in Jeffersonville, Indiana by Howard in 1898. Built for Capt. L.V.Cooley, New Orleans. About 1904 she ran from New Orleans to Vicksburg and Greenville. She was chartered for making a movie in January 1924 and temporily renamed "Windfield Scott". Movie was called Magnolia. Foundered New Orleans in August 1926.
